Mullingar Athletic FC have announced that they will be welcoming the John Aldridge Legends to play at Gainstown, Mullingar on Saturday 14th May, KO 2 pm, in an exhibition match against a Mullingar Athletic FC Selection, all in aid of local charities Irish Autism Action and T.E.A.M as part of ‘The Spirit of Mullingar’! A match soccer fans in the county of Westmeath and beyond won’t want to miss![SinglePic not found]
The Spirit of Mullingar festival promises to be a weekend of family fun and entertainment in support of these worthy local causes, proudly sponsored by Greville Arms Hotel Mullingar. This event is being organised to show that the community spirit associated with Mullingar is alive and strong and never forgets those in need of their support. The schedule for the weekend of activity is as follows – a fashion show on Thursday 12th May 2011, Celebrity Golf Classic on Friday 13th May 2011, John Aldridge Legends XI V’s Mullingar Athletic soccer match on Saturday 26th March 2011 and a 10K Fun Run on Sunday 15th May 2011.[SinglePic not found]
John Aldridge is currently putting together a legends side of footballing greats, players from Liverpool, Manchester Utd, Celtic and players that John has played alongside in his amazing professional career. The full squad will be confirmed and announced soon. John Aldridge commented, “Myself and the rest of the lads on the team are really happy to be involved in this event, the work both Irish Autism Action and T.E.A.M does is amazing and these charities need our support. We hope that the fans will agree and come out on 14th May and support us in raising some money on the day!”
Legends XI said, “Not only is this match a fundraising day for Irish Autism Action and T.E.A.M, but it will be a great day out for any fan of the game! The games we organise are friendly’s but we always find that the competitive streak comes out in the players as soon as they step foot on the pitch. The Legends stars may be a bit older but they haven’t lost their drive for winning or skill with the ball, it’s just remarkable to watch. Any fan would enjoy a day like this! We are delighted to be involved with Mullingar Athletic FC and hope it will be a really successful event for them and the charities they are fundraising for!”
All charities wish to express their thanks to Mullingar Athletic Club for organising the soccer match, to Bernard Flynn and his team for the golf classic, to mega marathon runner Gerry Duffy for organising the 10K fun run and to the following local shops for the fashion show – Unique Boutique, Cocoon, Tatters of Mount Street, Cosma Boutique, The Fashion Shop, Margarelle Shoes and Chamarie Shoes & Accessories. Hi Ian,
Thank you for contacting Legends XI.
We can certainly help you to organise a Legends XI game. We can provide you with most top Premier League sides or we can put a All Stars team together, for example a John Aldridge XI.
If you can answer some questions for me below it will help to give us a better idea of what we can do you for.
1. WHAT ATTENDANCE WOULD YOU PREDICT BASED ON SELLING A MATCH TICKET AT £10?
2. DO YOU WANT THE PLAYERS TO ATTEND AN EVENING FUNCTION AFTER THE GAME?
3. DO YOU HAVE A TOTAL THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO RAISE FROM THE PROJECT? IF YES WHAT WOULD IT BE?
4. DO YOU HAVE ANY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS / REQUESTS FROM THE PLAYERS APART FROM PLAYING IN THE GAME?
Once I have this information it will give me an idea of a budget to put a Legends side together for you.
I look forward to your response.
Kind regards
Colin
