Keith Duffy Launches The Spirit Of Bagenalstown

KEITH DUFFY from Boyzone flew over to Ireland last week especially to launch a major fundraiser in Bagenalstown for Irish Autism Action.
The brainchild of Cllr. Ken Hickey, the fundraising weekend is called the Power of Bagenalstown and will feature top names from the premiership.
John Aldridge, Jason McAteer, Mark Walters, Don Hutchinson, Gary and Keith Gillespie, David May, Lee Martin, Clayton Blackmore and Tommy Boyd are the soccer stars who will line up in McGrath Park. Never before will the soccer pitch in McGrath Park feature such sporting talent as Carlow men who fancy themselves as the next Nani get a chance to play against the soccer legends.
John Aldridge commented, “Myself and the rest of the Legends are delighted to be involved in the Power of Bagenalstown at McGrath Park on 16th April. Irish Autism Action is a great cause and we are pleased to be helping to raise money for them. We hope the fans will come along on the day and support!”
Legends XI said, “Not only is this match a fundraising day for Irish Autism Action, but it will be a great day out for any fan of the game! The games we organise are friendly’s but we always find that the competitive streak comes out in the players as soon as they step foot on the pitch. The Legends stars may be a bit older but they haven’t lost their drive for winning or skill with the ball, it’s just remarkable to watch. Any fan would enjoy a day like this! We are delighted to be involved with Bagenalstown FC and hope it will be a really successful event for them and the cause they are fundraising for!”
Taking place over the weekend of April 15, the Power of Bagenalstown will feature sporting events including Legends XI fundraising match, a pitch and putt tournament and a 10K fun run. A fashion show and a gala dinner dance are also on the programme of events which aims to both funds and people’s spirits in Bagenalstown.
